NSBA Supports New Saskatchewan Growth Plan: The Next Decade of Growth
Posted on November 15, 2019 in Business, News Release
Yesterday, November 14th, 2019, the Premier of Saskatchewan, The Honourable Scott Moe, released the province’s new growth plan that focuses on the next decade of growth for Saskatchewan. In the Premier’s words, “the purpose of growth is to build a better quality of life for Saskatchewan people,” and the plan identifies the specific strategies that the province will use to achieve growth.
The NSBA supports the vision of the province as laid out in the province’s new growth plan, particularly the philosophy that economic growth will lead to a better quality of life for the entire province. This philosophy underpins the NSBA’s position on other economic issues and the NSBA is delighted that the province continues to recognize the role of businesses in providing the foundation for Saskatchewan’s prosperity.
“The NSBA supports policy that helps business create prosperity for the entire province,” said Keith Moen, Executive Director of the NSBA. “Economic growth benefits everyone as businesses are able to provide well-paying jobs, much-needed services for residents, and community support and donations. These factors are key to the quality of life that we have now and strive for in the future.”
The NSBA also supports many of the specific initiatives identified by the government that help to support and grow business in the province. Measures such as maintaining a competitive tax environment, maintaining strong finances, and growing Saskatchewan exports both inside and outside of Canada are essential for ensuring that Saskatchewan businesses remain competitive and therefore the NSBA is pleased to see these actions as part of the plan for growth to 2030.
“The NSBA broadly supports the actions identified in the plan but is pleased to see that the government maintains its commitment to key principles such as a competitive tax environment that benefit businesses across all industries and sizes of business,” said Moen. “We also support the actions identified in the plan to build upon Saskatchewan’s position as a world leader in agriculture, resources, and technology.”
