NSBA says provincial budget is a bitter pill to swallow

Saskatoon, SK – With the provincial government’s $1.3 B deficit for the 2016/2017 year and PST exemptions removed from construction labour, the NSBA says challenging days are ahead for the province’s business community.

The NSBA supports balanced budgets at all levels of government. While this stance has not changed, the NSBA understands the government’s measured approach to reducing the 2017/18 deficit by a stated goal of 2020, given the current economic state of the province. Despite this, however, the NSBA recognizes this budget is a bitter pill for business to swallow.
“The NSBA believes that a staged approach towards a balanced budget is better for Saskatchewan’s economy than over-reactionary cuts to spending and increases on revenues,” said Keith Moen, Executive Director of the NSBA.
