The NSBA has nine Committees that support the NSBA’s events and lobbying and advocacy efforts. Each Committee consists of approximately ten volunteers from the NSBA membership who provide leadership, expertise, and dedication in their chosen area of policy or event planning.

Policy Committees
Economic Development – Chair: Dallas Beal
Provides policy direction to the NSBA Staff and Board of Directors in the areas of government programs/departments directed at economic development, procurement, energy & resource development, and other areas of policy that are relevant to the economic well-being of Saskatoon and the province of Saskatchewan at-large. The Economic Development Committee helps to ensure that the NSBA’s position on advocacy and lobbying initiatives is representative of the opinions of the organization’s membership.
Labour – Chair: Don Ewart
Provides policy direction to the NSBA Staff and Board of Directors in the areas of labour relations and negotiations, workforce preparation, the Workers’ Compensation Board, and other areas of policy that affect the relationship between businesses and their employees. The Labour Committee helps to ensure that the NSBA’s position on advocacy and lobbying initiatives is representative of the opinions of the organization’s membership.
Taxation – Chair: Grant Douziech
Provides policy direction to the NSBA Staff and Board of Directors in the areas of business taxation at all three levels of government, property tax assessments, government budgeting, and other areas of policy that are relevant to the finances of businesses. The Taxation Committee helps to ensure that the NSBA’s position on advocacy and lobbying initiatives is representative of the opinions of the organization’s membership.
Events Committees
Business Builder Awards, Presented by Nutrien – Chair: Michael Carss
Provides creative and logistical support to the NSBA Staff in the process of planning the organization’s annual Business Builder Awards Gala. The Committee assists in tasks such as securing venues, soliciting award applications from members, helping to fill sponsorships (selling to other members), choosing the event MC(s), and determining the event theme and decorations. The Business Builder Awards Committee helps to ensure that the Awards Gala remains relevant to the membership while retaining the high-quality programming that the Gala has become known for in the community.
Golf Classic, Presented by Express Employment Professionals – Chair: Wayne Wilson
Provides creative and logistical support to the NSBA Staff in the process of planning the organization’s annual Golf Classic. The Committee assists in tasks such as securing venues, soliciting prizes for competitors, helping to fill sponsorships (selling to other members), organizing meals and hospitality initiatives and determining the event theme and decorations as well as providing support on the day of the event. The Golf Committee helps to ensure that the NSBA Golf Classic remains relevant to the membership while retaining the high-quality programming that it has become known for in the community.
Lessons I’ve Learned, Presented by KPMG – Chair: Kristy Rempel
Provides creative and logistical support to the NSBA Staff in the process of planning the organization’s annual Lessons I’ve Learned speaker event. The Committee assists in tasks such as securing venues, choosing speakers for the event, helping to fill sponsorships (selling to other members), choosing the event MC(s), and determining the event theme and decorations. The Lessons I’ve Learned Committee helps to ensure that the Lessons speaker event remains relevant to the membership while retaining the high-quality programming that Lessons I’ve Learned has become known for in the community.
Popcorn and Entrepreneurship Series, Presented by EY – Chair: Chad Leverick
Provides creative and logistical support to the NSBA Staff in the process of planning the organization’s annual Popcorn and Entrepreneurship Series event and film screening. The Committee assists in tasks such as securing venues, choosing the “star” for the event, helping to fill sponsorships (selling to other members), choosing the event MC(s), and determining the event theme and decorations. The Popcorn and Entrepreneurship Series Committee helps to ensure that the Series remains relevant to the membership while retaining the high-quality programming that it has become known for in the community.
NSBA Network Series
In addition to the NSBA’s Signature Events, the NSBA Network Series consists of approximately 25 events per year shared between Breakfasts and Luncheons. The Committee assists in tasks such as choosing speakers for each breakfast/lunch, helping to fill sponsorships (selling to other members), MCing and greeting at each breakfast, and brainstorming ideas to grow the Network Series community. The Network Series Committee helps to ensure that these events remain relevant to the membership while retaining the high-quality programming that the NSBA has become known for in the community.
