NSBA Luncheon Series Featuring:

“Lessons from Suits and Boots: #KillBillC-69 Campaign”

Presentation by Rick Peterson – Suits and Boots

Last April, Edmonton-based businessman Rick Peterson and a group of six other capital markets friends founded Suits and Boots.

Their aim was to set up a not-for-profit to help fight back against the foreign-funded groups that are having success in blocking and stalling key pipeline and other resource projects in Canada.

A year later, Suits and Boots has grown from 6 supporters to more than 4,000 people located in more than 340 communities across the country. They have played a key leadership role in the fight against Bill C-69, and have emerged in a short period of time as one of the leading grassroots groups in Canada supporting the resource sector.  See this piece in the Calgary Herald from February 12

Rick will be joining us on Wednesday, April 24 to share some of the lessons Suits and Boots has learned in building a strong, grassroots organization that punches far above its weight. He’ll pass along insight into the group’s social media and earned media strategy, what works and what doesn’t, and how all of this has been accomplished without any corporate sponsorship from mining or energy companies.

He’ll also provide a glimpse into the group’s next campaign, which will involve taking on Canada’s banks and securities regulators who are working together to choke off investment in early stage resource companies, with a focus primarily on the western provinces.
